Concussion & Care

Concussion & Care is a pediatric concussion consulting practice, that offers the ability to treat, manage and facilitate the need for your child to return to activity. Under the referral from the child’s primary care physician, we can deliver an initial concussion assessment, and then detail out an individual plan tailored to the needs of your child.

Pediatric Concussion Management

Research has indicated that controlled, gradual increase in activity can help support the healing process from a sport related concussion injury. In addition, the state of Virginia mandates a return to play protocol designed to progressively increase loads activity to young athletes before obtaining clearance by a Physician in interscholastic sport. However, most school divisions in the state of Virginia unfortunately lack guidance and continuity of care to be provided to a young athlete in the event of a head injury. Providers specialized in concussion management such as Athletic Trainers are here to help with the process!

At Concussion & Care we can:

1: Establish care, communication and individual plans for young individuals.

2: Facilitate concussion management to the athlete, and provide avenues for recovering from concussion

3: Reassure parents/guardians that the child will receive optimal concussion treatment and safely return to sport in collaboration with your primary care provider
